TRANSGLOBAL UNDERGROUND ORIGINAL MEMBERS TOUR: NEW COMPILATION “DESTINATION OVERGROUND” OUT NOW ON CD
March April dates now in, check out the live page on this site…
, “Destination Overground” is a compilation containing tracks from the original releases Natacha sang on with TGU, along with other work they’ve done since, including 3 new or unreleased tracks.
In the early 90s, Natachas work with TGU on tracks like ‘I Voyager,’ ‘Taal Zaman’ and ‘Shimmer’ created a whole new genre of British music, crossing oriental and Asian grooves and lyrics with club grooves and live percussion. But this was just the beginning; during Natacha’s solo career the two acts have continued working together to the present day, and this compilation follows that, bringing in tracks such as ‘Omri Coulu Leek’ and going up to the present day with a new version of TGU’s ‘Dancehall Operator’ with Natacha guesting on vocals.
25 years after they put that new outline into the British musical map, Transglobal Underground will be marking the occasion on tour reuniting some of the most important musicians involved back in the day, and releasing a compilation celebrating TGU’s longterm relationship with original vocalist Natacha Atlas whose own solo career is over 20 years old and has spanned oriental music, electronica and jazz.
Along with Natacha Atlas, Count Dubulah of Dub Colossus, and percussionst/rapper Goldfinger, (a mainstay of Ian Browns band and the Winachi Tribe), will be joining forces with vocalist/storyteller TUUP, drummer Hamid Mantu and machinist Tim Whelan.
